Staňkovice Castle
Chateau / manor Ústecký kraj · Czechia
Staňkovice is a castle located about one kilometer northeast of the village of the same name near Žatec in the Louny District. It dates back to the nineteenth century, but in its immediate vicinity lies the remains of the abandoned fortress of Chmelice. Since 1958, both the castle and the fortress have been protected as cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. In Staňkovice itself, there was a fortress near the Church of Saint Wenceslas, mentioned only in 1547 when King Ferdinand I confiscated it from the town of Žatec for participating in the Estates' Revolt.
