The Poledník lookout tower is located on the mountain of the same name in the Šumava region, within the cadastral area of Prášily. It was created from a former tower of a military electronic border security facility, which allowed monitoring radio traffic deep into the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. The lookout tower is the third highest lookout tower in the Czech Republic (after the Praděd lookout and television transmitter and the Boubín lookout).
